RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 252436

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051105 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051105 Firefox/1.5

If certain ascii characters such as alt+15 (☼) or alt+21 (§) (which both work in all forms and programs I've seen, including notepad) are set as the master password, future passwords will not be able to be unlocked. The master password can later be removed, as those characters seem to be treated normally in the "set master password" dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) set the master password to be ☼ (alt+15)
2) open a webpage with a saved password
3) enter the saved master password (☼)
Actual Results:
Password is rejected, and user is reprompted for a master password.

Expected Results:
The password should be accepted and treated like a normal ascii character.

Tried it out with §§§§§§ as a master password. Password was accepted but I could not see any passwords using this mp (like described).
Had no problem with ☼ as a master password.

This is fixed on trunk only (so it works for comment 1), see bug 252436. As long as there is no fixed1.8.x keyword it is not fixed on the 1.8 branch for Firefox 1.5.x.

You're right. Tested it for branch but pasted the trunk ID. Sorry, never again :)
