Could you install with talkback and get a talkback ID for the crash? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback or optionally build debug and get a stacktrace using gdb. http://www.mozilla.org/unix/debugging-faq.html

Dosn't crash for me, Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051120 Thunderbird/1.5 ID:2005112006.
However, I all the messages open in very small (~50x50) windows.

Hi - got a new account.
Sorry I didn't see, that you replied to this bug - didn't receive the email.
Now it works, but got the same problem like magnus melin - it opens only small windows.
Got TB 1.5.0.13 on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn..

great. closing WFM
as for the window problem, size is OK in windows - it opens them all, tiled, with size of last window. However there are lots of linux window size issues, including not remembering size of last window
