The Flash animation on StanLee.net displays, but never leaves the loading
screen. Its as if the download on the fly code in flash never gets activated.

I am using the Flash 4 plugin for Nav 4 in mozilla.
Build: 2000031314
On a Win98 machine. I have also tried it on an NT 4 machine (I think its the
same in Win2k as well)

I just tried some of the movies on www.shockwave.com - wierd things happen.
Some plugins don't display, others run fine, others crash the browser.
I see this problem. The movie never loads and "Loading..." message appears..

I think this is happening on http://www.acidplanet.com/gotopage.asp as well.
Flash-->nsbeta2. Flash on b2 criteria.

[nsbeta2-] unless this can be demonstrated on a more common site.

http://stanlee.net/ - is big in the comic book world
http://www.nikefootball.com/language_flash4.html (Choose English)- Other places
on nike.com as well.
http://www.shockwave.com/ It just sits at a black screen!
http://www.turbonium.com/ Stops half way though. Possibly other www.vw.com
sites.

thats just after looking for a couple minutes... I'm sure I could find more.
I just found out that the flash files which are not loading are externally
loaded flash files. (I know that the nikeshopathletesworld.com flash is done
this way)

In Flash 4 this is how they are loaded:
actionscript --> load movie --> blah.swf --> layer 1

On pages where the objects are not external swf's, the pre-loaders work fine.
Its only when they are external do they fail in mozilla/nav 6.
Eg, here is one that works: http://www.nikeshopathletesworld.com/en/home.html
(This one is not externally loaded - I've seen the source)
This looks similar to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37710.
LiveConnect of legacy plugins is not supported and won't be supported.
But this isn't live connect. Liveconnect is javascript... this doesn't use any
javascriupt.
Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with the scripting of Flash, but it looks like
the code on some of these pages are expecting js callbacks. The callbacks won't
happen if they rely on liveconnect.

But in anycase, there shouldn't be any crashes.

What do you mean by an externally loaded file? Maybe this is really
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23667.

Flash files can load external flash files. For example, the flash on
www.eightlines.com loads an external .swf file which is a picture of a tree. In
Mozilla you don't see the tree because the plugin never downloads the file.

If the flash plugin is streaming the file then yes, I think this bug is the same
as (or is dependant on) 15546
I retried this page with today's build. Now I no longer see the "Loading"
message since the webpage seems to have changed. It appears the same on 4.x and
seamonkey. Flash contents display and work fine. Could anybody onfirm this?
Thanks!
This works for me with the latest patch attached to
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23667.

Your patch most likely fixes this one. I'll mark it fixed as soon as it is
checked in.
Fixed with patch checked in for http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?
