User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

System: Mac OS 10.4.3, Adobe Reader 7.0.5 & Preview.app
build: Firefox 1.5rc3 release build - fresh install, no existing user preferences
Reproduceable: Always

No mechanism exists for changing the helper application used with PDF files, Firefox automatically selects Preview.app and does not create a PDF entry in the View and Edit dialog under the download preferences.

Also, changing the default application for PDF files in the finder does not change the helper application selected by Firefox. (Note: I'm not arguing that this is how it's supposed to behave, I'm just pointing out that I tired this just in case this is how it selects the application).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Fresh install of Firefox 1.5rc3 no existing preferences
2. Install Acrobat Reader
3. Download PDF file
4. Select View & Edit action; notice there is no entry for the PDF extension

Expected Results:
Some UI that allows me to select a different helper application for PDF files.
Hmm, have you tried Firefox --> Preferences: Downloads (button at the bottom)?

As I mentioned in the initial bug report, no PDF extension appears in the View & Edit dialog (that is the "button at the bottom").

I think this is a dup of 236195.

I wish it would get fixed since i'd rather use xpdf to view my pdf files.
Bug 236195 looks to be DUP of Bug 147309 for me.
Bug 147309 seems to be the oldest report for the issue which describes problem clearly.

By the way, why too many DUPs were opened repeatedly for PDF, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader related issue?

Too difficult to search? If so, what makes search difficult or impossible?
