318197 - 1.5 Firefox software update fails supposedly due to options settings

The new version has a new prefernce user interface. In the old one I had software installation turned off with the exception of mozilla. Also I could go to options and change the setting to allow. This is what I guess I am being asked to do. But trawling through the new interface I see that checking that firefox should be able to install the extension I require from
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=722&application=firefox
it still will not allow me to do so.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.have software updates disallowed with mozilla exceptions allowed in 1.07
2. update to 1.5
3. get asked to update some extensions, but process hangs ..click x to close update dbox. restart firefox 1.5 and check settings to ensure updates allowed ok. Get told that I need to check settings and try again etc etc 

Actual Results:  
error message as per above

happens with any extension....

Expected Results:  
updated my extension
