Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051107 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051107 Firefox/1.5

Image name suggested by download manager was incorrect.,

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a image via a *server-side script which redirects you to the image*
2. Right click to save the image
3. Save as. Note the file name!

Actual Results:
The file was named after the script page (This was a coldfusion action)

Expected Results:
Should've been called nw_properties.jpg or something, name suggested was act_getimage with type "Extensible HTML..."

Standard themes, clean install of Firefox 1.5 RC3
Can you provide a URL that demonstrates the issue?

The URL in particular that I got it from was a private LAN address so unforunately no. It's basically an App that first makes you click 'Yes' I want to download this [generic attachment to an Incident Reporting mechanism]; and then it redirects you to the image. Address bar gives the real name, but when I right click and Save Image As it names it "act_downloadFile.jsp" (JSP server...)
Any other Right click and save as Image gives me filename.jpg.
Sorry I can't show you the real life incident, but I presume it works the same with most web-apps of this nature.

Image example of image save irregularity
A dupe of bug 299372 ?
That bug is about Save Link As, for when the content type/filename of the saved content isn't known. Using the attachment in this bug as a testcase I get the correct "image_save_bug.JPG" filename instead of attachment.cgi.

It is indead about Save Link As.

I confirm: with Firefox 1.0.7 I still get the correct name.
With Firefox 1.5 however, I receive the wrong name.

I feel this may be a duplicate of #299372.

David, can you confirm that you were seeing this bug while using the context menu's "Save link as" option?

Yes, Version Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060802 Firefox/1.5.0.6 highlights the file name which is poor as it places the name in the clipboard. If you want to rename a series of pics, it's a hassle because you have to go to cliboard to get name for the series you want.

The behavior should be that the save image dialog shows the file name, but does not highlight it.

It still does this in verrsion 2.0.0.3, and I wish it would corrected as it's really annoying. If your are saving a picture set and want to append a name the original file name is always sent to the clipboard and then you have to chooose the appended name from the clipboard and paste it in. In other words it keeps overwriting your clip board so you can't just keep the appened rename at the top of the clipboard's memory.
