I'd like Firefox to support xul directory browsing. That'd mean that it'd have to do something *useful* when setting the pref network.dir.format to 3, instead of leave users with empty pages when trying to get file:/// or ftp:/// directory views.

Note that at the moment, it actually *tries* to do something useful, but fails because of:

No chrome package registered for chrome://communicator/content/directory/directory.xul

Of course, this all works fine in Seamonkey/Mozilla Suite.

Ever confirmed: true
Nearly a year and a half later, does this actually stand a chance of getting in even if a patch surfaced? Mike, opinions?
Just to note, that in current FF (at the least in FF 33 & up), new tabs continuously open, until ESC is hit.

STR:

network.dir.format;3
type ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/ into the URL bar

Results:

Tab show "Connecting..."
Then changes to "New Tab" & a new tab opens, again saying "Connecting...".
