When starting thundebird in -safe-mode the default layout is not the same as when creating a new profile/from fresh. I'm especially talking about the column picker that display all the possible fields, which is making the accounts tree almost completely hidden, not usable for anyone. The normal defaults (as in for a fresh profile) should be used. This only happens if you have "Show expanded columns in folder pane" checked (under Advanced | General). Checking+unchecking this option when in safe-mode oddly goes back to a column picker which has no selected items.
Summary: thunderbird -safe-mode defaults != defaults (column picker has all values checked) → thunderbird -safe-mode column picker has all values checked
Created attachment 288210 [details] [diff] [review] proposed fix Make the extra columns hidden by default, make safe-mode tb usable when column picker is enabled. Shouldn't really change the behavior for normal mode.

Comment on attachment 288210 [details] [diff] [review] proposed fix r=me. Gives me a vague sense of worry, but it works perfectly with every way I can think of to test, so I think it's unfounded worry :)
