Hi,

Currently, there is a mozilla-nl.org domain. Its contents however are outdated, and its functionality overlaps with that of http://www.mozilla-europe.org/nl/. This means that it requires extra effort to keep this site up-to-date in addition to mozilla-europe, and that doesn’t happen: it is still advertising Firefox 1.0.7, and bug 318501 is also caused by this.

It is also unclear to me who maintains the website, and to what extent it is open for modification (I guess I should ask Gert-Paul). It is also not under control of the Mozilla Foundation and therefore they do not review the contents, nor take care that it stays up-to-date.

I propose to put a big link to mozilla-europe.org/nl on the frontpage, and to redirect the Firefox and Thunderbird product links. The site can then focus on its more important content: NVU and translated extensions. (thought: But there’s http://www.mozbrowser.nl/ as well... Maybe that’s a better place for them? Wiki page for the list of extensions, etc.)

In order to proceed, we should also check the localisation for references to the mozilla-nl.org domain (like in bug 318501) and remove them when possible.

En de duplicatie van het vertaalwoordenboek op mozilla-nl (http://www.mozilla-nl.org/vertalen/woordenboek) vind ik ook geen goed idee, er zou gewoon naar de wiki-pagina gelinkt moeten worden. Nu krijg je content-duplicatie die weer outdated is. Sterker nog, er staat nu geen enkele link naar de originele wiki-pagina, dus het is niet mogelijk om eenvoudig de originele pagina te vinden.

Sowieso vind ik dat de items in het ‘Vertalen’ onderdeel van de site beter thuis zijn op een wiki.

Dus, of we kiezen ervoor een wiki te installeren en mozilla-nl.org voor dit soort dingen te gebruiken (à la developer.mozilla.org) (merk op: http://developer.mozilla.org/nl/docs/Hoofdpagina), of we kiezen gewoon voor mozbrowser.nl.

Het maakt mij niet zo heel veel uit, hooguit dat we misschien meer controle over mozilla-nl hebben waardoor we makkelijker dingen aan kunnen passen, en meer ruimte hebben om op de frontpage expliciet aandacht te geven aan informatie over en bijproducten van het lokalisatieteam.

we zijn bezig om de site bij tewerken en toegangkelijker te maken. maar doordat we een paar problemen hadden met het cms systeem is het even vertraagd. Je hebt gelijk dat het eigenlijk niet kan dat de site nog naar de oude versie verwijst, dus zal ik er voor zorgen dat de niewe voorpagina snel gebruikt wordt.

Nadat het beheer de afgelopen jaar in habden was van een of twee personen heb ik gevraagd om een nieuwe site optezetten die door meerdere personen beheert kan worden. Dit proces is nu bezig.

Denk je niet dat het makkelijker is om voor de producten gewoon naar mozilla-europe.org/nl te verwijzen?

the mozilla-nl provide some extra information for localizers and we are pointing to mozilla-europe where needed.
