please ignore the fact that lxr regexp searches don't work. that problem doesn't relate to the fact that once you've told lxr that you want to search for a regexp, it decides you don't.

don't set regexp until after init_all clobbers $Conf
I don't know where the code for this lives anymore (CVS is gone), and I probably don't have the bandwidth to review this if I did. :(

mxr is gone, mass closing.
https://searchfox.org/ is a much better alternative.
