I would like to have a web forum for MDC where users can discuss things and help each other out. I've been looking for suitable forum software, with a few basic criteria in mind: first off, simple interface, clean layout, and decent default skin; second, web feeds per topic and per category (RSS, Atom, whatever). At this time the only forum I've found that is at all what I have in mind is the Lussumo Vanilla forum (which is all nice and ajaxy and stuff). That said, if you know of another forum that has Web Feeds per topic and per category that is fast, cleanly designed, and easy to use, let me know.
In the meantime, however, I would like to get an install of Lussumo Vanilla up for testing. Right now there are two versions available: 0.9.2 which is relatively stable, and 0.9.3 beta which is not at all stable but that includes a fairly major code overhaul and some new features.
0.9.2 can be found here:
http://getvanilla.com/
I'm assuming that it will be easy to upgrade to 0.9.3 when that code is stable and released. I have no real reason to believe that, of course, so if you would rather start with the unstable beta release, that's fine with me.
So we can support different language forums later if necessary, the forum should be installed at /en/discuss/.
I'll need full administrator access and write access to the forum directories. I've developed a minor extension for the 0.9.2 version that will integrate it cleanly into the MDC site with the proper look & feel and such.

Planning any major patches or anything? You want this under developer-stage first, correct?

Stage first is ideal, yeah. The only thing I plan to add to the forum is a small extension, which is manageable the same way MediaWiki extensions are.
When the 0.9.3 version is out of beta we will want to upgrade to that, if we start at 0.9.2.
