Moving to appropriate component, sorry for the delay...
Domain names aren't case-sensitive. Ever. If this actually happened, it's either Thunderbird's fault or the fault of a local DNS server that was very broken.
The original summary for this bug was longer than 255 characters, and so it was truncated when Bugzilla was upgraded. The original summary was: In installing Thunderbird, I used SMTP.comcast.net instead of smtp.comcast.net This was prompted by the way the instructions are written. The Comcast sending server is case-sensitive and I could not send mail. Suggest you re-write instructions using smtp instead of SMTP.
Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies? (1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is 220.127.116.11)
