As has already been discussed (I don't know what happened to the old bug) many other tools allow emacs binding via control while leaving in apple commands on the apple/command key. Like linux, this should obviously be a preference (and not the default one), as many users won't know emacs. But it is unbelievably frustrating knowing the code is already there & works in the linux version & we just can't have access to it. Reproducible: Always

Joanna, the patch in bug 229473 was not granted permission to land on the branch (seamonkey 1.0/firefox 1.5). So, in order to see it in action you'll have to use a SeaMonkey trunk build - or modify platformHTMLBindings.xml yourself.
