This is just a broken web site that you may want to investigate. When browsing this site, Firefox becomes totally unresponsive. Whatever pathelogical thing the site must be trying to do, Firefox should not be allowed to become unusable.
Reproducible: Always

There's little point filing bugs against firefox 1.07 since it's old. If there is no reason why you haven't yet, please update to firefox 1.5 and see if the problem is still present. Thanks!

I tried the Windows version of 1.5, and it works just fine. Later today, when I'm done with all of the pages I have open, I'll install 1.5 on this Gentoo box. (And pray that Gentoo doesn't get cranky about me installing from the unstable branch. I'm switching to Ubuntu the next time it's convenient. ;) )
Sorry about the potential false alarm. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I installed Firefox 1.5, under Gentoo Linux, using the binary packages (so I could make sure it wasn't a compile problem on my end). When shihab.net is open, and I'm viewing that tab, Firefox is basically unusable. When I switch to another tab, it takes several seconds, but then it's okay again. When I switch back to the shihab tab, it's slow again, and top shows 100% CPU usage as long as that tab is active.
Definitely some kind of Linux-specific problem, because, as I say, the Windows version is fine.

I also found that this site didn't scroll very smoothly but turning off JavaScript fixed it. I suspect it's the scrolling text ticker across the red banner near the top. That, or the Flash they use to the right of the banner photo. I'm not sure it's particularly a Firefox issue.

Are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3? This WFM in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090210 Minefield/3.2a1pre ID:20090210050102 (of course, not Linux).
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch

I'm betting it's fixed. Unfortunately, I don't have a Linux install accessible right now, so I can't test that. There's been so much change since 1.5 that if I were you, I'd mark this as invalid until someone reports a similar problem again.

Unless someone can repro, WFM.

I just tested it with an old (1.5.0.12) version on Linux (Fedora Core 5) and there are no problems. So, either it was fixed in Firefox or the site changed so it no longer causes the problem. In any case, this can be closed.
