Kindly help...

Reproducible: Always

We have Sophos Anti Virus software
Your inbox is one big file in MBOX format, so if sophos checks this file instead of checking just the new mail added to it it will take some time.
The size of the file isn't reduced when you delete or move mail, as mails only get marked deleted. The mails marked deleted are removed when you compress the folder.
Right-Click on your inbox and select 'Compact This Folder'.
You can have it done automatically on a linit set in Edit->Preferences->Mail&Newsgroups->Offline&Disk Space
[x] Compact folders when it will save over [100]KB

Worksforme with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060603 Mnenhy/0.7.4.0 SeaMonkey/1.5a and multiple Mailaccounts.

Also, no response from the reporter for more than 3 months. I am going to mark this worksforme, if a testcase, url, etc comes in, feel free to re-open.
