Using FF 1.6a1 20051212
Using the / key to enter Find as you type works on first tab, but if that is closed and another Find as you type session is started the app crashes as the first char is entered.
Tried on two seperate XP PCs with vanilla profile.
Does not seem to be page specific (i used Google, Slashdot and forum pages in tests) 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open two tabs
2. Do a Find as you type search (press / to initiate) on first tab content
3. Close that tab
4. On next selected tab begin Find as you type


Actual Results:  
Browser crashes. No error messages relating to problem only Mozilla feedback agent and XP error dialog.

Expected Results:  
Find as you type highlighting matching words.
