Details
I've switched from Win XP to Win 2k and back, using the same Docs & Settings user directory, and overriding some of the registry. Now seamonkey agrees to run under W2K, but will absolutely not run on the XP. Tried removing the program dir, the profile dir, registry entries etc - no go.
To generalize, there are scenarios in which seamonkey dies silently without telling the user anything (not even a message to stderr).

Well, it seemed installing a different nightly helps. Previous version was 2005-2005-12-03, new version is 2005-12-21. Reducing severity.

Which product/version are you using ?
Is this reproducible, or was it a "one time/build only" ?
OS: Other → Windows XP
