User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

I have a CVS account for the Portuguese (pt-PT) Firefox l10n. For some time now (and because of some serious lack of time), I've only been taking care of the 1.0.x branch (testing, signing off releases). Now that Firefox 1.5 has been released, I'm no longer involved in localizing Firefox.

I've announced this on our own site about 5 months ago, so that some other person could pick up the "job" for 1.5 (then thought to be 1.1). Until now, only one person did, but I haven't heard from him in quite some time (and he doesn't seem to reply to my emails). I consider him "Missing in Action" by now.

Since I'm no longer localizing Firefox, I'm stating it so here so that my CVS account can be suspended/removed if the MoFo people so desires. I was waiting until someone else asked for an account (so that I could say: "Ok, he's really doing stuff, so he's The Man now."), but I guess I've waited too long.

Not that the CVS account is burning my hands or something, but I don't have any plans to go back to localizing, and I think the pt-PT l10n not having any "official" localizer could turn out to motivate someone into picking it up (someone that may think that I'm just taking some kind of break).

Reproducible: Always
If you wish, I could try to add some more noise about this, perhaps referencing
this bug. Just to make sure that we're not relying on a single channel here.
What do you mean with "more noise"? Anything that could ease the finding of a new maintainer for the pt-PT locale would be nice. Maybe there is someone out there with enough free time and motivation to pick this up, but just doesn't know (s)he's needed. :)

Anyway, I think that the ("other systems and languages") download page should convey this information somehow. Right now it shows only the most recent version for a particular locale, but doesn't say if a newer version is underway or if the locale is just unmaintained (or unknown). My suggestion would be a red (*) in front of the locale name, with a "currently unmaintained" note at the bottom of the page.
Oh, and another thing. Together with that red "(*)", know to be unmaintained (or stale) locales should not be automatically proposed on the front page.
I don't have a reference to the original registration bug right now.

Carlos, could you add a reference to that in a comment here?
Sure, it's bug #263732
Hi

We have interest in helping with the translation of FireFox to Portuguese (Portugal). We have already translated Fantastico, Account Lab (netenberg) and are now translating cPanel. How can we help you?
Check out this topic on our forum, some people have expressed their interest in participating (and one seems to be starting to work on it). You can comment there, to join efforts.

Carlos: If you aren't going to need your CVS account any longer, I can disable it.

Ever confirmed: true
I'm not going to need my account any longer, no. I don't have any problems with it being disabled.
cvsshell account for cefrodrigues%mail.telepac.pt on cvs/l10n has been disabled. I haven't touched the despot account.

Due to a recent overhaul of the committer's agreement, we are requiring new forms be sent for accounts that have yet to be created, even if you have already filled out and submitted the old CVS Contributor Form. Please download the form at http://www.mozilla.org/hacking/committer/committers-agreement.pdf and submit it according to the directions specified at http://www.mozilla.org/hacking/notification/. We apologize for this necessary inconvenience. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks!
Marking FIXED per Dave's comment. Not that I understand the despot part of this, and I don't think that Carlos does.

Can we completely terminate this account so it doesn't confuse people (like me) in the future?
