When Tbird is started, the new mail just downloaded does not always display in the inbox.  When this occurs, if another folder is selected and then the inbox, the mail will then display.  I do not know how to cause this phenomenon.  It appears to occur on a random bias.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download mail

Actual Results:  
The new mail may not show.  If not, click on any other folder and back.  It is if the window needs to be refreshed.  When operating normally, the new mail can be seen entering the mail box.  When this occurs, only the existing mail shows.

If it is size related, I should have serious problems but cannot reproduce or predict when it will happen.

Inbox - 14,213 messages
Inbox.sbd -  2.05 GB (2,203,657,180 bytes)
Contains  - 368 Files, 14 Folders
Inbox - 1,270,190 KB
Sent  -   889,653 KB

Profile Properties
Size  - 4.14 GB (4,451,641,033 bytes)
Contanis - 394 Files, 16 Folders

Trash is emptied about every other day.  About 150 spam messages are filtered to trash.

All folders are compacted once or twice a month.  Unfortunately with this edition Thunderbird 1.5 RC 2  there is NO indication that folders are being compacted.  In my case, this takes time.  On my smaller accounts, the compact folder process is under one second.  Windows version 1.5 (20051201)

I found this bug on Mac OS X too. I lost many messages that simply never displayed. could not find them in trash, spam folder or anywhere else. Now I set the Leave on server option in order to read the messages that cannot be displayed. The password  for my bugzilla account for instance was not displayed. I made 6 tests sending me the same email. I could not get the first one but the orders reached the box (well they got displayed).
I have 3 accounts configured. I noticed that problem on the first one. I could not confirm  it does the same on other accounts. 
I think it is a major or critical issue. Losing mail is really not a good thing...
