Sometimes while navigating the net, my work place VPN connections dialoge box pops up and prompts me to choose one of my VPN connections. I then hit cancel becuase I am not trying to remotely log on to one of my machines. Sometimes the page I am trying to go to will load and sometimes I get the "page not found" message. Its not something that I can replicate because if I close the browser and then reopen it and then go to the page that was giving me the problem it has always loaded fine after restarting the firefox application.
Reproducible: Sometimes
This causes somewhat of a security problem for me becuase I'm a developer some goverment contracts and the machines that I log on to open up a gateway to confidential information. I love this product but I can't afford to have anything going on in the background that is trying to communicate with these machines when I'm not expecting it. Is there any type of transaction logging that I can turn on so I may be able to self diagnose the problem when it occurs?

Making this bug report public because hiding it doesn't protect users from attacks.

Is the VPN software available in windows as a dialup connection? Take a look at the document I added to the URL field
I think I figured out what the problem is. In Internet Explorer there is a setting under the connections tab to dial a connection if the network connection is not present. The default is set to dial a connection if its lost. Firefox doesn't have an equivlent setting. My VPN connections fall under a dail up type connection. So what I think is happening is that I may have some sort of network gliche every once in a while and firefox is defaulting to dail a connection? I have played around with useing some of Firefox's different network connection types but I'm still running into the problem. I do alot of network and software type trouble shooting for a living, so let me know if I can be of anymore help.

Jay,
are IE settings not the default for other software using the PC? And there are no VPN settings to prevent auto reconnect (I thought there was)?
if still a problem please check bugzilla for an existing enhancement bug or problem bug.
Summary: VPN dialogue box pops up unexpectedly → choose VPN connection dialogue box pops up unexpectedly after loss of network
