User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 I'm running WinXP SP2. I just upgraded from Firefox 1.0.6 to 1.5. I checked my extensions window and noticed that all my extensions were gone. The window was empty as if nothing was installed. I figured this might be due to the upgrade so I installed them again by going to the extension web page. In selected the ones I wanted to reinstall and clicked the Install Now link. Each time I did the Software Installation window popped up and showed the extension I was trying to install. Example: FlashGot 0.5.9.99. The install button at the bottom of the window counted down from 5 while highlighted until it read Install Now. After clicking the button the extensions window would pop up but it was always blank. I decided to shut down firefox and restart it figuring it might not show up until I restarted the program. I even restarted my computer but neither resulted in showing the extensions in the window. I've noticed that even though the extensions are not showing up in the window I am able to use some of them. The Tab Browser is still active. I am able to use them and I can see the Tab settings in the Options window. However I had this extension available in my previous version of Firefox 1.0.6 so it may have simply carried over from that. I've also noticed that when I switch my profile back to Default all the extensions and themes show up again in their respective windows. But once I switch back to my profile they disappear. I've gone through several other Bug Reports and saw others have had similar problems with previous versions and they have all been marked as "Invalid" or "Duplicate". I've never found a solution to the problem listed on any of the reports. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to URL https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=220&application=firefox 2. Click "Install Now" 3. Click "Install Now" in Software Installation window Actual Results: Extension window pops up blank. The same thing happens with the Themes window. Expected Results: Listed the installed extensions and themes in the appropriate windows
This is a screenshot of the Software Installation window just before clicking the "Install Now" button. Everything looks fine from here. (The extension is compatable with this version of Firefox.)
This is a screenshot of the extension window after the "Install Now" button has been clicked. As you can see, it's blank.

This is probably due to one of the install bugs and was triggered during the upgrade since the upgrade from 1.0.x to 1.5 does an install of all extensions. Ryan, can you zip up your profile's extensions directory along with the extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, and extensions.ini files that are located inside your profile's directory and email them to me? Chances are the file would be too big to attach to this bug. http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile
I’ve been having this same problem, exactly as he described it. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

Ryan - even though Joe emailed me his files I still need yours. The symptom for this bug is the same for multiple causes and so far I've been able to identify 5 different ones a new one being added weekly. Joe - thanks, it is appreciated. If the reason you are experiencing this has not been identified as of yet I will file a new bug for it and cc you on it.

(In reply to comment #5) > I've just emailed Robert his requested files zipped up. Joe, surprisingly, I haven't received it yet.
Ok, I just resent from my gmail account. Let me know if you don't get it.

Joe - I received the files and I just took a look at them. It appears that the extensions.rdf file has been filled with 17,687 null characters but as to what did so or why it happened I am unsure. If you delete your extensions.rdf file in your extensions directory the file will be regenerated and should fix this for you - at least it did so for me. I'm going to think on how to best address that specific case (e.g. a corrupt extensions.rdf) if we decide to address it and I'll cc you on the bug when I submit it.

I'm going to think on how to best address bah... that should be extensions.rdf in your *profile* directory

Robert -- thanks very much, deleting extensions.rdf did in fact cause it to regenerate a good version. Themes and extensions are now working just fine. Woohoo!

back to Ryan - per comment #3 - can you zip up your profile's extensions directory along with the extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, and extensions.ini files that are located inside your profile's directory and email them to me? Chances are the file would be too big to attach to this bug. http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile

Ryan, are you going to send me the files I asked for? If not, I'll fix Joe's bug in this one which might not be due to the same bug you are experiencing.

No response and the two cases where this is known to happen have been fixed. Resolving -> WFM.
