Chatzilla will not recognize half operator modes. When displayed as symbol or as symbol, or color, half operators simply have the % sign by their name but are not ranked accordingly to their mode. When any mode is tried to be assigned to them, it returns an error that the user or channel does not exist.

2. Join channel with half-ops

"Anywhere" is not exactly descriptive. I use ChatZilla every day in a channel with halfops (heck, I'm a halfop myself in #chatzilla on moznet) and I've never seen problems like this. Please provide a better description of where this problem occurs, and with what nicknames. Right now your bugreport is not very useful, as 'anywhere' is simply incorrect, however interesting it may sound to suggest that the entire behaviour is broken.

I was also reminded by James Ross that this might very well be because the SUPPORTS message from the server doesn't list support for halfops (or the server simply doesn't use a SUPPORTS message, which sucks even more). You can check for this if you use the /supports command. Please copy the "Supported channel user modes" line. On moznet, it looks like this:

If you do not supply more info, I'm going to close this bug as invalid in a few weeks, because it is useless in this state.

Sorry for the delay, been having to work out other internet issues. I used the /supports command and got the following. I'm on the zIRC network, and have had no problems with the half op mode in the past so I don't think thats the issue.

Alright, that's better. However, you still haven't mentioned the server you're on, so I can't reproduce still. I tried connecting to eu.zirc.org, which is their random EU server, apparently. There, halfops worked fine, so apparently it's a problem with the specific server you're using. Which one is that, exactly?

Oops, now I made the same mistake myself, because obviously that server redirects to a random host. Apparently I just connected to rakuen.de.eu.zirc.org.

Right now, I'm using the ferret.uk.eu.zirc.org server. However, it does not seem to be server specific. It seems to be more of a system specific problem and not obviously caused by chatzilla. I tried reinstalling firefox and chatzilla both, no fix.

The zIRC network recently updated their ircd software to include ~ and & as posisble prefixes (for the modes +q and +a respectively). This too is recognized and taken care of by ChatZilla in my setup (though +q and +a won't get a different display, see bug 325457). I'm marking this WORKSFORME. If you have a clue why it doesn't work for you, and you're sure ChatZilla is to blame for this, please reopen.
