User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051217 Debian/1.5.dfsg-2 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051217 Debian/1.5.dfsg-2 Firefox/1.5 Hi, Thunderbird takes the domain part of the e-mail address as the domain for Message-IDs. Thus, my IDs look like 43BC0AA0.1030500@danisch.de That's causing me a lot of trouble. Spammers sweep through mailing list archives to collect everything which matches an e-mail address pattern. Thus, every Message-ID becomes an e-mail address in the spammers address lists. For some special reason I need to accept any e-mail to my domain (having a catchall address). I therefore do receive tons and tons of spam to these Message-ID addresses. Would be nice if thunderbird would choose better Message-IDs or at least allow to configure the domain part. Reproducible: Always

That's almost independent of the "look" of a MID, since MIDs and email addresses share most characteristics. > For some special reason I need to accept any e-mail to my domain (having a > catchall address). Sorry to say, but that's no Mozilla.org fault. > Would be nice if thunderbird would choose better Message-IDs That won't help. > or at least allow to configure the domain part.
