User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 When typing in an address in a new window focus switches to page when its loaded completely, it is more noticable if you have a slow internet connection (like 56k) This is annoying if you are typing an address into camino especially when loading the browser for the first time. Sorry if this is a duplicate. PS btw Camino is an excellent browser! I am running version 1.0b2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a link in a new window (or the first window that opens) 2. then start typing in an address (while the address bar is focused, or by clicking on the address bar while it is focused.) 3. focus then switches to the main page when the page loads Actual Results: Focus switches to the main page Expected Results: Focus should stay on address bar so you can continue typing if you have started before the page has loaded completely.

I'm fairly certain this is a dupe, but I can't find it at the moment. We have a litany of focus bugs that aren't resolved, and I know this behaviour has been complained about before. cl

No, as long as only one window/tab is involved, this is INVALID. We always, by design, switch focus into the content area when that content area has finished loading, so that a user can enter data/FAYT/page down/etc. If there are multiple windows/tabs involved, then it's a dupe of either bug 306245 or the "new window in bg" bug.

I don't agree, what I am trying to say is if you have started typing in the address bar before the website (eg your homepage) has loaded because you want to visit another then you should be able to keep typing there after your website has loaded. I agree though if you haven't typed anything the focus should probably switch to the main window.
I can kind-of see the case for that as an enhancement (cmd-. or the stop button achieves the same thing already); is that something we can even detect?
Summary: When typing in the location (Address) bar in a new window focus switches to content when its loaded → When typing in the location (Address) bar while page is loading, focus switches when page load complete

(In reply to comment #4) > I can kind-of see the case for that as an enhancement (cmd-. or the stop button > achieves the same thing already); is that something we can even detect? I'm almost positive we can see whether or not the user is still typing at the time we get a "page finished loading" message. However, I still think even *that* is a dupe :-p cl
Oh, right, it's discussed in bug 175701. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 175701 ***
