Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

If I click the junk status column to mark a message as junk, Thunderbird proceeds to show the next message automatically, even if the marked message wasn't shown.

E.g. suppose the first two messages in my Inbox are plain and messages 3-10 are spam. Initially the first message is shown. From the Subject/Sender/Recipients columns I clearly see that the rest are spam and mark them so that I don't have to see them.

When I click the Junk status of message #3 (while viewing msg #1), #3 is marked as spam and msg #2 is shown. If I then mark msg #4 as spam, Thunderbird immediately shows the spam message #3! In practice I have to see all the spam messages, even if I'm marking them just to avoid seeing them! And in the process even the normal messages (#2 in this case) get marked as unread while I'm just cleaning my Inbox and before I have actually started reading my mail.

Thunderbird seems to always show the next message, when a message I marked as spam, regardless if it's the current one or not.

I would like the current message to stay intact, when a message is marked as spam.

Didn't see this problem before 1.5.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in (to an IMAP account) and select Inbox
2. Msg #1 is shown
3. Mark msg #3 as spam by clicking the Junk control column
4. Msg #2 is automatically shown
5. Mark msg #4 as spam
6. Msg #3 is shown
etc.

Expected Results:
1. Log in (to an IMAP account) and select Inbox
2. Msg #1 is shown
3. Mark msg #3 as spam by clicking the Junk control column
4. Msg #1 is shown
5. Mark msg #4 as spam
6. Msg #1 is shown
etc.
This is not specific to IMAP.
