Hmm, we implemented the "fatal error" in bug 290465, but I've changed my mind and am getting more and more keen on having it appear visually just as a "popup blocked"-bar (contradicting myself in bug 290465 comment 12 ...). Less intrusive, and follows the rest of the Firefox UI. What do you say? It could be a preference as Aaron notes in bug 290465 comment 11.

(It also makes automated testing easier without popups appearing)

Yeah, if we go to a "popup blocked"-bar type of thing, I'd vote for a three-way preference.

I would vote the default to be a popup like we have now since that seems to be common for other processors.  But it isn't that big of a deal if it isn't.

That was also why I wanted it in the first place, but to complete my 180 degree turn :) I'd rather see the "notification bar" as the default so we blend in with Firefox, and not stick out as an add on. But it is not terribly important to me either.
