I installed the very last version of mozilla suite : 1.7.12.2006011107
and after that I got the preferences window empty : the category menu doesn't show anything.

your installation was failing in
Bug 323133
Error occured while installing mozilla : Quality Feedback Agent -214_DOES_NOT_EXIST

please deinstall, and do a custom install without installing Talkback. If Talkback is deselected, installation should happen without the error message above, and should finish normally. Before deinstalling please save the .LOG files  in the GRE directory, they will tell what happened in the installation leading to this bug.
