IHHEEHHH have it too and its one of the first often used support advices of hotlines etc. Supporters, Callcenteragents etc all over the world will glorify fx devloper if such a button/preference will come into firefox I start the diskussion about it in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=366736 because i was very disapointed about bugcomment#1 of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322823 hope its an option... Reproducible: Always

Confirming as a non-dup enhancement request, but I don't think this is a good idea.

You'll see that option when you enter Firefox's safemode. Hope that everyone realizes what he is doing before choosing that option..

This option in the Safemode is already there, this is not what i purpose for. Because if safemode is startet the extensions are disabled. Pherhaps its an error without an extensions it would be not the same easy way if anybody want to figure out an error which is by example deactivated cookies etc. Its more easy for users too only click one button in the preferencesmenu to restore the settings. If user should use the safemode, why user should not use the profilemanager? You see an simple button will end this discussiob about the profilmanager option too. And it will be easier to find in the preferences menu as only find over the safemode.

When the option to reset preferences is in the Tools menu or Options window it can be clicked inadvertently or too spontaneously. For instance people may not realize that they will lose their history of 300 days if the setting will be reset to default (= 9 days).

(In reply to comment #4) > When the option to reset preferences is in the Tools menu or Options window it > can be clicked inadvertently or too spontaneously. For instance people may not > realize that they will lose their history of 300 days if the setting will be > reset to default (= 9 days). > Same as in IHHEHHH. And John Doe who is a new Firefox User had most use IE before and perhaps he know that.

Chrome has implemented this feature in early 2014. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-57618189-92/chrome-fights-back-against-settings-hijackers/ This feature should not only add the "Restore default settings" to the Prefs window but it should prompt the user when Addons change prefs without user acceptance.
