User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows;U;Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Using Windows XP SP2. Open Firefox to homepage www.comcast.net. Then go to URL www.hgtv.com. Error message as follows ALWAYS appears: Illegal operation at plugin. Shockwave Flash The plugin performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised to restart Firefox. This happens at other sites too, but I know it always happens at this one. If I click "don't show me again" and continue, at some seemingly random point, I will get the following message: firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It gives me the option of sending Microsoft an error report (bet they love that!). When I click OK, all Firefox windows close - all is lost. I have not found the exact problem in your bug library and don't understand any of the bugs reported with shockwave flash or macromedia. Please explain fix (if any) in SIMPLE terms the ordinary user can understand. Thanks, Glenn Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open firefox 2.Go to www.hgtv.com 3.Shockwave flash illegal plugin message appears. Actual Results: Using Windows XP SP2. I don't know - there's some conflict here I don't understand (I'm a user, not a software expert).
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060114 Firefox/1.5 WFM, no error.
This is a problem in your Shockwave plugin, not in Firefox.
Do you have the ActiveX plugin installed? That would be covered by bug 294956.
WFM with Firefox 1.5.0.1 and SeaMonkey 1.0 on Windows XP SP2 with Macromedia Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 10.1 installed.
