User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla Sunbird 0.3a1 In Sunbird, for all events where "All Day" box is checked, the popup alarm will not work. (the email alarm won't work at all, but I believe that's already covered in a past bug report.) I've tried setting the event for a specific time and asking for an alarm one-day out, and it works just fine. But, if I set the event as an all day event and do the same test, no alarm will appear. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create new event 2. Check the "All Day" box next to the start and end-time menus 3. Schedule a popup alarm Actual Results: No popup alarm appears Expected Results: A popup alarm should appear at the appropriate duration prior to the day of the scheduled event. I really enjoy all of the mozilla projects and look forward to future releases. Thanks!
If I remember correctly Sunbird checks all events between 'now' and 6 hours from now during startup. If one of the events during that period have a alarm configured a appropriate timer is started that triggers the popup. (See Bug 292704 Comment #8) I just tested it, alarms also works for "All Day" events. But only if you start Sunbird within 6 hours before the "All Day" event begins.
Thanks for the information. I have set up these events with an alarm to remind me 7 days before it begins. Do I understand that the alarm will only go off if I start the calendar within 6 hours of the time the All Day event is scheduled to begin? (i.e. a request for an alarm 7 days prior isn't possible) Also, I often leave Sunbird running on my computer (minimized w/ Suntray) and even if it's running well before an all day event with an alarm and remains open, the event will pass by without any alarm having gone off. So, again to clarify, do you mean that Sunbird must be closed out and reopen within six hours of the beginning of an all day event for the alarm to work? Whatever the case, it would be very helpful if Sunbird could be set with an alarm for an All Day event and provide the alarm at the requested date/time without having to be open or closed at a certain time. Thanks again.
Sunbird will currently only find alarms that are scheduled within 6 hours of the event. I'm currently working on a patch to fix all of that.
When will this bug be fixed? Can you please give me some information?
(In reply to comment #4) > When will this bug be fixed? Can you please give me some information? > The patch for this, and other issues, is up and waiting for review in Bug 315051. When that bug closes, this bug will be fixed as well.
Depends on: 315051
Will we be notified when this patch is available?
(In reply to comment #6) > Will we be notified when this patch is available? > Should be working in the latest nightly builds now.
