Details
MDC needs two more mailing lists/groups created for rss->mail feeds from the blogs. The mailing lists should be: mdc-devnews@ and mdc-webwatch@ (to match mdc-newsletter@). The newsgroups should be: mozilla.mdc.devnews and mozilla.mdc.webwatch (pending gerv/justdave's approval of mozilla.mdc.newsletter).

I will create the mailing lists now, but they will not be active until tomorrow. You will reveive an e-mail once the lists have been created. We will have to wait for justdave to return for the newsgroup part of things.

the newsgroup needs to go first, and Gerv needs to approve the group name. Assuming Gerv is okay with it (the suggesting naming is creating a new hiearchy, and putting into question the naming of the existing mozilla.dev.mdc) I'll take care of the rest when I get back from vacation.

Yeah the justification for the new chunk of hierarchy is that "mozilla.dev.mdc" is actually about the -development- of the MDC sites, documentation, and project. The "mozilla.mdc.*" groups, however, are not about the development of the MDC. If that makes sense.

Yes. Debs, shaver and I have been discussing the new group hierarchy. MDC-specific groups are going under dev.mdc, for the reasons she outlines. There are also some other tweaks we think we should make; we'll handle those separately. Gerv

(In reply to comment #4) > MDC-specific groups are going under dev.mdc But that's not what she said here... these ones are in mozilla.mdc.*, not mozilla.dev.mdc.* I think it makes sense though, so I suspect you just misspoke yourself here...

Newgroups have been requested. They're not live yet. Mailing lists have been created, you should have received the initial mail with the admin passwords already. Please ignore the one for "mdc.devnews" with a dot in the middle, I messed it up and deleted that one. :) These are moderated newsgroups, since this is going to be post-only coming from the rss->mail gateway. The mailing lists are set up as the moderator addresses and configured to hold everything for you. I recommend you make the following configuration changes on both lists: Under Privacy options... -> Sender Filters Action to take when a moderated member posts to the list -> discard List of non-member addresses whose postings should be automatically accepted -> the address that will be on the From: line of mails sent from your rss->mail gateway Action to take for postings from non-members for which no explicit action is defined -> discard Mailman will send you an "auto discard notice" with the complete email of any email discarded initially. Once you are satisfied that mail from the rss->mail gateway is successfully making it through, you can set "Should messages from non-members, which are automatically discarded, be forwarded to the list moderator?" to No. I'll post here again as soon as the newsgroups are live.
