User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 despite editing preferences and allowing google in three setting sections I cannot install the google toolbar. I have followed the instructions, restarted the browswer even restarted the pc, but it will not install. I keep getting the message bar accross the top asking me to edit preferences. Again, i edit the preferences and allow googlge...back to square one i cannot install the toolbar. I feel compelled to say that i find this version of firefox terrible compared to my previous and was seriously considering returning to internet explorer. I am a member of the spread firefox affiliate programme but there is a waste of time as i never get any reply yo my support questions.I have given that up a sa bad job. COME ON FIREFOX THINGS ARE GETTINFG WORSE NOT BETTER. i build and sell pc's and I always install fox for my customers. As from today...it aint happening, people are beginijg to think I dont know what im talking about with browsers. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.download and install google toolbar 2.edit preferences 3.restart browser Actual Results: nothing..same page appears prompting me to edit preferences stating that software installation is disabled Expected Results: an installation of google toolbar allowed google to install software

Type about:config into the address bar, look for xpinstall.enabled set it to true. Then try to install the toolbar again.
