User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

I received the notice that a new version of Firefox was available during a time when I could not afford to close Firefox, so I declined to install it. Since I can't find a place in firefox to trigger an update, I waited for it to prompt me again (which it did). Now, however, when it prompts me, it simply has the Software Update box, with no text in the box. The three buttons on the bottom are Back (grayed out), Finish, and Cancel. Finish and Cancel do nothing. I am able to close the software update window by using the X in the corner.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
(I assume, since I have no way to test this right now.)
1. Install Firefox 1.5.
2. Decline initial software update offer.

Actual Results:
I am unable to update Firefox.

Expected Results:
It should have come up with the same software update box as before and allowed me to update Firefox.

I am marking this as Major because I believe many people will not update their software if the mechanism fails, which could lead to a security issue.

Uh, and please don't yell at me for whatever reason. I searched for this bug before I filed, and I really can't mess around with reinstalling right now, especially since I don't have a copy of the installer for 1.5.
How did you decline the first offer - by clicking the Later button or using the X box on the dialog ?
I clicked the Later button.
Ok. I tried to reproduce this locally but wasn't able to (clean 1.5 install, new profile, update prefs tweaked for more frequent check).

Presumably this broken behaviour persists after restarting Firefox. If so, could you close Firefox down, verify that there are no firefox.exe in the process list of the Task Manager, then start Firefox up and open the Javascript Console from the Tools menu. Are there any messages present at this point ? Do any appear when you go Help > Check for Updates ?
After following these steps, there were no errors in the Javascript Console.
Additionally, checking for the update now results in the correct screen, and Firefox updates successfully. Perhaps checking manually for updates fixed it?
Brian, do you still see this problem in the Firefox 2.0.0.3 -> 2.0.0.4 Update ?

works for me with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/2007061504 Minefield/3.0a6pre

Closing as works for me, since i was not able to reproduce this bug report. Also Comment #5 says that the reporter wasn`t able to reproduce this too.
