It does ask for a password, but not a username option and then promptly forgets the password on next nntp pass or whilst browsing newsgroups. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create new news server account on and nntp that requires authentication 2. Click always require authentication when connecting to this account (no remember option here) 3. Account replies back with invalid username/password combination as you were never asked for username Actual Results: Cannot use this program for newsgroups, revert back to outlook Expected Results: Should have been asked for a user and pass either in setup or first access of a restricted nntp account Gave up, went back to outlook.
Are you sure you did not enter a username once? Take a look at Tools->Password Manager->Manager Stored Passwords. Stored usernames and passwords should be visible there if there are any.
(2+ years later) No reply from reporter. SeaMonkey v1.0.x is not supported anymore. (Would have been "Incomplete", now is) R.Invalid
