User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060203 Camino/1.0rc1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060203 Camino/1.0rc1 While reading some News with a RSS-Reader (NetNewsWire in my case) I occasionally want to open an article in the browser (Camino of course ;) When doing that, Camino does not change the cursor to a hand like it usually does when one moves the cursor above a link. Clicking on a link works, though. Opening a website with Mail.app does not show such a behaviour. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Read some headlines with NetNewsWire 2. Open an article with your default browser (Camino in my case) Actual Results: 3. Move the mouse-cursor above a link: it does not change into a hand like it should. 4. Click on the link and it will work. Expected Results: Camino should change the cursor into a hand to point out that it is a link. Occuring since updating to Camino 1.0 RC1.
Sorry for the confusion, but it seems that this bug is not related to RSS-Readers at all. After surfing around a while (and not touching NetNewsWire in the meantime) Camino completely stopped to show the "link-hand".
This sounds a lot like bug 296228. What OS are you using, Tomas? Is hiding Camino involved in this at all? cl
I'm using 10.4.4. I'm hiding Camino pretty rarely (never?), but I tend to have open lots of windows (> 15) with lots of tabs inside them. Although I did not quit Camino since filing this bug, everything works ok at the moment.
Closing WFM. If the problem reappears or you can provide additional requested information, you may reopen this bug.

The behaviour is still here with 1.0, usually triggered by opening a link with NetNewsWire, sometimes with Mail.app as well. When I click in the window (like activating it) everything is ok. I can scroll with the cursor keys, but elsewhere in the browser window it looks like the window is not activated - I do not see the hand and nothing in the status bar as well when I move the cursor above a link.

Simon, could this be another case of -getFrontmostBrowserWindow (a la bug 322044), or perhaps the fix for bug 296228 needed to be applied to another codepath (external apps)?
Tomas, have you tried a recent 1.8-branch or trunk nightly since 26 April to see if bug 322044/bug 333974 fixed this?
Not yet. But I will try that as soon as 1.0.2 will be released (too many windows open right now to quit...aaahrg, session-saving now! ;)
Tomas, can you try this out on 1.0.2RC?

Closing WFM due to lack of updates. If you can still reproduce this on 1.0.2 or a recent 1.8 branch or trunk nightly, feel free to reopen.
