I got the same set of problems when 1.5.0.5 installed itself. I am using Win XP SP2. Evidently the Firefox install wiped the old directory, since I did a System Restore to get the old version and bookmarks back, and it didn't work. Also, you can't add any bookmarks to the new install of 1.5.0.5, making it pretty useless. Since these problems are so crippling, I will have to use another browser until this release is fixed. I guess you shouldn't trust anybody, but I have had no problems at all with Firefox since the beginning, so I didn't even hesitate to let this update run. Shame on me - but can you even stop one of these? It downloads itself and then announces it will update now or later. Is there any choice to NOT update?
