User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Previous roport # 324785 is marked as invalid. I understand why however, it is valid. Here is why; I use the "File->Exit" method much more often than the top right "X" close window button and if I don't have tabs open in any instantiated browser window, well Web, Java, and Data base programming using several instantiations of Firefox over two monitors... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Instantiate First Firfox session. 2.Instantiate a second, third... 3.Use "File->Exit" from any one of the instances. Actual Results: Exits All instances. Expected Results: Because I work in the God Forsaken Microsoft World, I Expect only the window object in focus to exit. After some thought I think that a warning with a choice to either "Exit ALL" "Exit (This)" or "Cancel" would best suffice. Ps. For me the severity is major not normal.
Severity: normal → major
You don't have more than one instance, you have a single instance with more than one window For the priority of bug reports see : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity This is wontfix for Seamonkey (bug 39057)
Severity: major → normal
What you want to use is "close window" not exit. These are two different things. This is really a duplicate of the request to move close window to where exit is. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 171892 ***

(In reply to comment #1) Yes, sadly to say, a lot of people mixed up the concept of "new window" and "new instance". Even O'Reilly authors! http://safari.oreilly.com/0131870041/app03 (The second table about File menu, first item on New Window) I can't imagine that O'Reilly, a prestigious computer book publisher, can let this serious error out in its book!!
