32696 - Unable to change default Profile directory

(i'm german...my english isn't perfect)

The first time I started mozilla M14 (i've got it from mozilla.org), the program
asked for a folder for the user-files. After I changed the default-folder, the
program crashed with a general fault protection.

The bug doesn't appeared if I don't change the default folder.

The program is 5%-10% faster than IE 5.0.

I can reproduce the M14 crash. However, this WORKSFORME (no crash) in 
2000032109. However, whatever folder I choose, it puts it in the default anyway 
:-| That is, the UI says I'm going to put it somewhere else, but when I look for 
the Users50 directory, it's in the default place.

I can't find a dup of that problem, so I'm rewriting title to reflect this, and 
bouncing to Profile Manager BackEnd (could be FrontEnd...)

Don't think so, as that bug says the response to changing the dir is to shut 
down. Let's leave them separate at the moment. Confirming.

Bhuvan, this is probably worksforme on the latest build, but let's be sure.

In the latest builds as mentioned in one of the updates, the Choose Folder 
button is not responding. 

Leaving that side, from the mozilla build I have, I noticed that even if the 
user chooses a folder of his choice that value is not picked and null is passed 
to backend instead. So, looks like front end problem in connection to file 
dialogs.

Hi,

I reproduced this bug under NT4SP5 (German) with M14, Build-ID 2000022820

(M14/de-AT) (I do know it's not the newest release)

I copied the Crash-Logfile, perhaps it's useful for you.

It only crashes when I try to change the Profile-folder and confirm that Dialog

with OK.

the crash bug is bug 27573- (fixed in M15)
the storage in default directory problem is bug 33752 - marking this as 
duplicate
