Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051130 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.8) Thunderbird version 1.5 (20060113)

In the last two weeks, since moving to 1.5 I have reproduced this several times,
in one unfortunate day it happened twice. It is unpredictable and admittedly hard to reproduce as it seems to happen when thunderbird tries to multitask.
I have only ever seen this with 1.5, not 1.0.x

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Thunderbird open for a whiel , send 1/2 emails .
2. compose email , optionally have other compose windows open.
3. Tricky bit: need Thiunderbird to try download new mail
4. In compose window highlight new text by using ctrl + shift + leftarrow , then try to use backpsace or write over it

Actual Results:
(You always know when thunderbird or firefox are going to crash, there are little signs like the cursor disappearing or an eerie pause while it tries to multi-task)
After performing the highlight, and pressing backspace, it seems to freeze,
cursor disppears and a few seconds later all Thunderbird windows vanish.

Expected Results:
Most times you can highlight words and jusrt write over them or delete, using backspace. It never crashed like this in versions 1.0.x

SunOS sr1-edub-03 5.9 Generic_118558-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880
Sunray, shared system, with several users.
New Email is automatically checked for every 10 minutes.
This build of Thunderbird from 25/Jan, I believe
thunderbird-1.5.en-US.solaris2.8-sparc-gtk1.tar.bz2
I run into this crash regularly in a Solaris 10 sparc box (Gnome / JDS desktop). This happens when i delete text in compose window.
I'm not able to reproduce it everytime. But being bad in typing, i happen to hit backspace/delete quite often and hence have been running into it often.

Thunderbird 1.5 initially freezes and then crashes. There is a core file. I dont see this 1.0.x releases.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Can you attach the stack here using pstack core?
I can see this bug in thunderbird 1.5 release build on solaris 10 sparc.
There is no problem for thunderbird 1.5 debug build on solaris 10 sparc.
Also there is no problem for firefox 1.5 debug and release build on solaris x86.
The current trunk do not have this problem on solaris 10 sparc.
So I think it is fixed by another bug.
I just confirmed this bug is the duplicate of bug 304720.
