The landing of the places code has completely broken the sage extension.
Why is this a Mozilla.org bug? Changes to Firefox can always create problems with extensions. It's up to the extension authors to fix them. When UI is changing as drastically as it is with Places there are bound to be bugs with extensions. I think this is INVALID.
Well, that is probably the case. I think the issue is that there is no longer a bookmarks sidebar. It would be pretty ironic if Sage were to win the extension contest though. It is one of the finalists.

I'm sure the Sage team will catch up. The basic sidebar framework is being restored before alpha1, if that's not enough, Sage will need a bigger refactoring. It happens.
the sidebar framework still exists, it was not removed. sidebars should still be able to overlay, correct me if I'm wrong. For a2 we will be exposing an interesting transient panel like thing Mike proposed.
Upon looking into this further I think it is just that Sage can't figure out how to get at the bookmarks anymore, so I think Gavin is correct and this is probably INVALID and Sage just needs to be updated to access the bookmarks folder in the new way.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
