The application icon for Firefox is too large. It appears to dwarf other application icons when located in the Dock. It does not look consistant compared to the other icons within the Dock and could be shrunk a bit to appear more refined.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Firefox.

Actual Results:
N/A

Expected Results:
N/A

Screenshot outlining size comparison and a proposed new firefox.icns file will be attached.
Screenshot of the Firefox application icon in the Dock on the right. Proposed Firefox icon on the left with size adjusted.
An example icns file to replace Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/firefox.icns. This is just an example for sizing. There are some sharpness and alpha defects on the edges of the image with the attached file.

Is this still a problem?

Also not a shell integration bug which is probably why this stagnated

The current icon fits in nicely with other dock icons: Mac OS X 10.6.7 with Fx 4.0.1.

This bug was probably resolved as per the efforts documented in bug 348047 and more specifically bug 492431 on product branding.

As the exact point this was fixed has not been ascertained, resolving WORKSFORME.

Note: The component Shell Integration (definition: areas where Firefox integrates with the host desktop environment) used to be named OS Integration which fit implementation of a dock icon into the Mac-specific .app-package.

Note: Should this become interesting again, my notes indicate that I verified this bug for "x86/Mac OS X" at the time of my first comment - platform would have to be updated.

Found a copy of 1.5.0.1 and added to Dock. The icon for Firefox was updated at some point, but I cannot remember when (I think Jon Hicks updated it when 3.0 was released). Issue is resolved and can be closed out.
Firefox 3.5, actually. Faaborg's summary blog post has links to the steps as it was created... http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/2009/06/18/the-new-firefox-icon/

Thanks for checking and closing out your old bug. :)
