User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 I like using the "Search as you Type" feature in Firefox and I think that it's a great feature that every browser should have. However, I feel that it would be a good option to allow users to turn off the sound that it makes when it encounters a search error. Every so often, using an in-ear earphone means risking deafness because the sound it makes is rather loud and sharp. To me, the Search Bar going red is a good enough indication that the word I'm looking for isn't in the webpage, but for others, it may not be good enough. So, I think it would be a small but helpful improvement to allow users the option to turn it on and off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type to find a word entry on webpage OR 1.Pres Ctrl-F 2.Typre search term that does not exist on webpage Would be a nice option to have for people using earbuds or earphones because the sound is quite loud and sharp.
Type about:config into the address bar, look for accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound and set it to false, then restart Firefox.
