If you close the Help viewer these dialogs appear fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open Firefox 2. open the Help Viewer (Help | Help Contents) 3. try to open the Options dialog (Tools | Options...) 4. the Options dialog does not appear until you click in the browser window 5. the same is true for the Clear Private Data dialog (Tools | Clear Private Data...) Actual Results: The dialog does not appear until after you click in the browser window. Expected Results: The dialog should appear immediately. I have no extensions installed and am using the default theme.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:18.104.22.168) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/22.214.171.124 WFM. The Help window appears by default always on top, so when I open the Options window, it opens behind the Help window. When I click in the window Help stays on top. And if it's not on top (rightclick, uncheck Always on Top), it disappears as soon as I click the Tools menu. Have you also tested it with a new profile and a fresh installation in a clean directory? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder
It is related to the Help window "Always on Top" option. This is what I see: 1. open Firefox 2. open the Help Viewer (Help | Help Contents) 3. right-click in the Help window and make sure "Always on Top" is checked, if not select it 4. iconify the Help window 5. go back to the Firefox window and open the Options dialog (Tools | Options...) 6. the Options dialog opens _behind_ the Firefox window and thus does not appear until you click in the browser window 7. the same is true for the Clear Private Data dialog (Tools | Clear Private Data...) If "Always on Top" is not checked in the Help window, then the dialogs open in front of the browser window as they should.
