User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060214 Camino/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060214 Camino/1.0 The active area spills beyond the icon. Not normal or expected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Position the pointer in the gray area to the right or left of the bookmarks icon 2. Tool tip will show. 3. Click in the gray area and bookmarks manager page opens. Expected Results: I expect that clicking only the tool icon will cause an action.
Wierd. Does the BM icon have a mask, or is it not as wide as the others? I can't replicate this with other icons (back/fwd) but Reload and View Source seem to have the issue as well, and stop looks like it might, too, but I can't tell. I'm not sure this is a big issue unless the areas are overly-large; I think per Fitt's Law and such we'd want to have some margin around the icon that is also clickable (2-3px), but not enough that the dead middle between two icons is clickable.
Summary: The gray area to the right and left of toolbar icons can be clicked to get the same result as clicking the icon. → The gray area to the right and left of certain toolbar icons is clickable

The visual icons don't determine the size/shape of toolbar buttons. This is true of OS X toolbars in general; Camino's behavior is completely standard.

And for the record, there are at least two of us who think Cocoa's NSToolbar could use some polish because of issues like this. If you wanna file this with Apple, I think Smokey and I are probably with you. cl
