There has been an error reading data for calendar: temp. It has been placed in read-only mode, since changes to this calendar will likely result in data-loss. You may change this setting by choosing 'Edit Calendar'.
Error Number: 0x804a0107
Description: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x804a0107 [calIICSService.parseICS]" nsresult: "0x804a0107 (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/1mzib0sa.default/extensions/%7B8e117890-a33f-424b-a2ea-deb272731365%7D/components/calICSCalendar.js :: anonymous :: line 397" data: no]
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Very little data putin so far. Everything OK for several weeks. Then recently entered the first Task. Calendar is installed on the Firefox taskbar.
1. The above details open in a window on every opening of Firefox.
2.
3.
There is no error report sent to Firefox/Mozilla. (drop down menu from Tools is empty)
Although the dialogue box suggests I can change the 'read only' mode in the "Edit Calendar" There appears to be no option.

Reporter, can you perhaps attach the calendar file that you were working with when this happened? Can you also please try again with the latest version of Sunbird?

From email Mike says:
The file listed in the error file:
file:///C:/WINDOWS/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/1mzib0sa.default/extensions/%7B8e117890-a33f-424b-a2ea-deb272731365%7D/components/calICSCalendar.js
:: anonymous :: line 397" data: no] is not present on my hard drive.
Least I can't find it.
Is there any other file you want that may be of use?
Mike: I'm interested in the actual calendar data file you were trying to subscribe to, which is different than the file pointed to by this error. I'm looking for one that almost certainly ends in .ics and includes the events in the calendars. (Please respond to bugzilla comments in bugzilla, so that everyone can track them.)

I can load this file in 0.3a2 without any problem. I can also add events to it without causing any sorts of read-only errors. What else do I need to do to reproduce this bug?

I too have this problem. I had a calendar file from Sunbird .2 that I imported into Sunbird .3 and it worked for several weeks, then began a similar crazy error message:
There has been an error reading data for calendar: R. It has been placed in
read-only mode, since changes to this calendar will likely result in data-loss.
You may change this setting by choosing 'Edit Calendar'.
Error number: 0x80004005
Description: The calendar could not be saved; there was a failure: 0x80004005
Whenever I go to change the calendar back into read-only mode, the option is disabled.
I have the following setup:
Windows XP
Sunbird .4a1 (began in Sunbird .3)
I attached a copy of my .ics file (Smokie-ics), but I also have a problem with Sunbird exporting the file correctly. Other programs don't always seem to like its formatting.
Thank you for your help.

ical4j validates (http://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/) both files.
Mike: I noticed however that Mike's file doesn't have a timezone-definition (hence: data: no???). This bug is rather old, using the calendar extension for firefox which isn't bveing developed anymore.
Smokie's file has two timezone definitions, both with X-LIC-LOCATION:America/Chicago but that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe this is bug 369885? Smokie, is your problem solved by using a nightly build?
