User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: TB version 1.5 (20051201)

I write and send mails ISO-coded. When I insert characters not in ISO-range and the auto-save feature of mails is on, a window pops up while writing the mail, asking me: "Send in UTF-8?". I can continue writing without answering the window and the window disappears, but the letters I wrote when the window popped up are a mess, because the window disturbed the input. Problem: This useful window should not pop up at auto-saving, it should pop up when clicking on "Send" or "Send later". Above (see URL) I've got a link to a text with German quotation marks. Simply copy it in a mail and wait until the auto-save wants to save the mail.

Reproducible: Always
Additional info:

1. This shows up only when "Compose messages in HTML format" account setting is cleared.

2. This shows up on all hardware and OSes - I've seen it on Windows and on Linux (I cannot change "Hardware" and "OS" fields, so please change it).

3. When this shows up and a user selects "Cancel" (because he does not want to send a message - it is not done yet) then, when the message window is closed, then a dialog shows:
----------------------------------
Mail is currently in the process of sending a message.
Would you like to wait until the message has been sent before quitting or quit now?
[Quit] [Wait]
----------------------------------
It is confusing and a user will not know what to do - he didn't want to sent a message and it is now being sent! If he selects "Quit" or closes this dialog then his message will be lost (I'm proposing "dataloss" keyword for this bug).
See bug 311821 comment 1 for a workaround.

Duping forward a hundred or so numbers, since for some reason the other one is catching more dupes.
