I have been using Seamonkey for a while but for first time tried to sort my mail by threads. After pressing the button next to the 'Subject' column, nothing happens. Task manager indicateds that Seamonkey is "Not Responding". I restarted and found I am able to sort a different mail account. However each time I try to sort my primay email account by threads, SM locks up. There are over 16,000 messages in this primary Inbox. Could that be too large to sort?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to sort Mail Inbox by 'threads'.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Mail locks-up.
Expected Results:
Mail should not freeze, rather it should properly sort messages by 'threads'.
16,000 messages in Inbox.
Maybe related to bug 241963?

This issue doesn't seem to be related. A) I incur no problems sorting using other columns/criterie. The problem only occurs when sorting by threads (and only in this one account). B) It doesn't seem to simply tax system resources and be taking a long time. When I go into Task Manager the program is showing to be "Not Responding" altogether.
Is it possible that, nevertheless, even though my entire system doesn't crash, the program is locking up because my system isn't powerful enough to handle the task?

could it be bug 321495 ? Have you tried a more recent Seamonkey build?
I tried it one more time, this time leaving SM alone for a while, and it worked. I guess it just needed time to sort. ... I always understood a status of "Not Responding" meant that the program wasn't functioning so I didn't think the program just needed more time.
Comment: I like the idea of threaded conversations but it doesn't work well for me in this program. With the way Gmail works, it's convenient, but in SM takes forever to change to or from a threaded view. (Additionally, I'm confused why some of my newer single messages weren't showing.) ...Hope these user comments help. .. Thanks and kudos to all of you.
