Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

Using Cyrus IMAP from tuffmail.com, I set Thunderbird to check messages automatically and to use port 143 with "TLS if available." When I start Thunderbird it checks the server capabilities but does not look for folders or check for new email. If I set the settings to use port 143 with "TLS" only (or SSL on port 943), Thunderbird will correctly look for new folders and check for new mail.

(Either way, after mail is checked the first time new mail is recognized via IDLE just fine.)

Reproducible: Always
Version: unspecified → 1.5
Maybe related to bug 325379?
Same thing here, but I'm on a Linux build 1.5.0.4.

Every option except "TLS, if available" checks for messages on startup.

Should be an easy fix?
this should be fixed in TB 2.0 Alpha and nightly trunk builds.
