From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; N; Win98; en-US; m14) BuildID: 2000032108 If you send outgoing mail to an invalid outgoing mail server, mozilla will give you the standerd errors, work for about a minute, then, if you attempt to go to any sites mozilla will say "resolving host: whatever the site name", then say document done in black seconds, without ever displaying, or contacting the sight. In fact, mozilla does not appear even to touch any external servers after it crashes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.make mozilla's mial program send an email to an invalid outgoing mail server name. 2.Allow mozilla to try to hit the server, until it gives you the error 3.brouse the web for about a minute. Soon enough mozilla will die. Actual Results: Mozilla crashed, didn't go to any sites that it was told, just hung for a few seconds saying "resolving host" in the status bar, after a few seconds it would say document done in ___ seconds Expected Results: It sould have displayed the site provided in the location bar

It crashes browsing the web, not in mail. What happens if you take mail out of the equation? For example, try to go to a web site that doesn't exist before continuing to browse?
Adding crash keyword.

Is this really a crash? The reporter says it crashed and then it did something after that. Sounds like crash means something other than the normal meaning.

I agree, this doesn't sound like a crash, sounds like either it's hanging, or DNS lookups are failing. reassigning to mscott because he knows how necko works, but CC'ing warren and gordon.

Summary: Mozilla crashes if you attempt to send mail to an invalid SMTP server → Mozilla crashes if you attempt to send mail to an invali
I just noticed the user agent is m14, and that the build is from March 21... I'll bet this works now. Can we get someone in QA to try to reproduce this with a current build?
I bet this works now too actually.
we can try.
I will try this after the win98 crash on launch bug (40324) is fixed.
esther@netscape.com - Win98 crash bug is fixed, so you might want to take another look at this. Gerv
Using build 2000-05-30-09 on win98 this is working for me too. Will resolve as worksforme since mscott is out and comments starting 5/24 state it should work now.

I have build 2000103004 and when I create a new email message, then click Send, Mozilla crashes and closes. Don't remember the exact error message. Perhaps this could be retested?
