If I dissable panda, it works fine but leaves me open t oattack. Is 1.5 not compatable with panda or is there a fix? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. evry time I use firefox to brouse web 2. 3.
When I do a search on the Mozillazine forums, several people seem to have problems with Panda: http://forums.mozillazine.org/ You could try another firewall, Sygate or Zonealarm are free.
have tried switching of panda firewall and it makes no difference.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with Firefox 2.0? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

Rick, could you please try updating Panda to the latest version and update Firefox to 2.0.0.6. If you can still reproduce the problem, please give us any feedback that you can. If we hear nothing from you in the next couple of weeks, this bug will be resolved INCOMPLETE. Thank you.

I can confirm that this bug still occurs on 2.0.0.9 with the new Panda Antivirus 2008. I have the antivirus only and not the anti-virus/firewall version. What happens is that Firefox "stalls" and won't open new links, etc. It's behavior is very similar to when a firewall blocks outgoing access to a program. Nothing times out it just does nothing forever. If you exit Panda Antivirus and exit Firefox and then reopen Firefox all is well again. This happens less often than with Panda 2007 and 2.0.0.x versions of Firefox. I upgraded to 2008 a couple weeks ago and actually thought the problem was fixed but it's happened twice in the last 2 days or so. I am using the Windows XP SP2 Firewall and actually have Firefox in the exceptions list so that shouldn't be blocking anything.
Gary, does this happen on any particular site, or is it when Firefox opens? If it happens on any particular sites, can you please provide a URL? Thanks a lot.

It's hard to reproduce it seems to happen at random. I browse with a lot of tabs open and typically notice it when I use yahoo or digg and open up several stories in tabs and then notice that not all of them load up. Then I try and go somewhere else and nothing works. I actually thought my router was going on the fritz until someone I setup a similar setup for called me and told me "the internet is broken" and thru troubleshooting realized it was the same problem. They don't use tabs at all so it prob isn't tab related.
You said that you set your friend up with a similar setup...same router? Maybe it is some incompatability or glitch between the router and the browser. I am not sure how this could be, I am just spitballing here. Any other information you can give us on how to reproduce this would be very helpful. If you are running any themes/extensions, please let us know.
I don't think it's a router issue. I have used 2 a Linksys BEFSR41 version 2 and version 4 (I think BEFSR41 is Linksys's generic name for "4 port router") these are pretty different and have different firmware, etc. My friend also has a Linksys but it is far newer than either of mine. I've described the problem as "firewalling" but maybe the antivirus is locking Firefox (or some critical files) to virus scan them or something and then doesn't release them. When Firefox gets blocked other programs Vent, Skype, games, etc continue to work. I have Ad Block Plus and the Skype plugin running. This bug occurred prior to installing those plugins. My friend does not use any plugins.
same results with FF3 or FF trunk and latest Panda?
Summary: Firefox stalls using up to 65% processor power → Firefox stalls using up to 65% processor power using PANDA AV

We're now tracking such bugs. This doesn't mean it's something we can fix, merely something we hope to be able to point vendors to so they can investigate. This is an automated message.

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
